Shabbat (Sabbath) begins on Fridays at 6pm and ends on Saturdays at 6pm. The purpose is to help the church and Israel become reconciled in Messiah and to identify the rift, and the needed restoration. There is much in the church that needs to change before it can be fully reconciled with the Jew. Likewise, changes in Jewish thinking are also needed.

Shabbat Shalom to all!
The tree-huggers delight:
The Bible uses plants, trees, colours, animals, birds, numbers and more to describe people and nations. It is the subliminal symbols that are of great significance and meaning, especially in relation to Israel.
Did you realise that the entire course of Israel’s history is plotted in the trees? There is much more to these symbols and metaphors - for another time.
Here are some amazing messages blowing in the wind, relating to Israel.
►The Olive tree: (Romans 11)
These trees have very deep, well established roots. They are sometimes called eternal trees, because they are so hardy; they live for many thousands of years. An ancient olive tree appears to die, but then miraculously, new shoots appear out of the dead wood continuing its existence.
The olive tree produces a rich olive oil which has numerous uses, but is also a type of the Holy Spirit. Olive oil is required to keep the temple menorah flames burning. This symbolises light. Olive tree leaves are symbols of peace. Remember the dove bringing back an olive branch to the ark after the flood of judgement.
The root of the olive tree is symbolic of God Himself. The root is called, “holy.”
Biblically, there are two olive trees of importance. The natural olive tree, is symbolic of Israel, and the wild olive tree, is symbolic of the church. The wild olive branch was “grafted” into the natural olive tree, thus partaking of the goodness of the root.
The national emblem of Israel includes two olive branches.
An ancient olive tree grove:
►The Fig tree:
The fig tree is symbolic of spiritual fruitfulness after severe pruning or judgement. It relates to Israel in the tribulation period, awakening to spiritual life.
The fig tree is unique in that its blossoms appear before the leaves. It should have fruit appearing before the leaves. This is why our Lord cursed the unfruitful fig tree, causing it to die. The root was not destroyed though, and a new tree full of fruit, is about to appear.
When the disciples asked out Lord what would be the sign of His coming, He listed a number of judgements to fall on the world. But one of these was the sign of the fig tree.
Matthew 24:32-34 “learn the parable of the fig tree: When is branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that the summer is near. So also you when you see all these things, know that it is near, even at the very doors. Assuredly, I say to you, ‘this generation (of Jews) will be no means pass away till all these things are fulfilled.’”
Present day Zionism and the awakening of the Jews, as well as modern anti-Semitism are signs of the fig tree putting forth leaves and about to produce much spiritual fruit.
►The Almond tree:
The almond is the first tree to flower in its season, which at the end of winter. The flower has five petals to it, five being the number of grace. The temple menorah, a symbol of light, has oil cups or containers in the shape of almond flowers.
The Hebrew word for “almond” is “shakeid” which also means to “awake” and “watch”.
The almond is symbolic of Messiah’s resurrection. It speaks of the supernatural power of God as seen in Aaron’s almond branch that budded in one day. (Numbers 17:8)
Jeremiah 1:11-14 “The word of the Lord came to me saying, ‘Jeremiah, what do you see?’ I said, ‘I see the branch of an almond tree.’ Then the Lord said, ‘you have seen well for I am about to perform My word.’ And the word of the Lord came to me a second time, saying, ‘what do you see? And I said, a boiling pot and it is facing away from the north.’ Then the Lord said to me: ‘Out of the north calamity shall break forth on all the inhabitants of the land.’”
The message here is that as the almond (Israel) flowers and buds she will be plunged into the tribulation period.
Jeremiah 31:28 “It shall come to pass that as I have watched over them to pluck up, to break down, to throw down, to destroy and to afflict them, so I will watch over them to build and plant says the Lord. In those days they shall say no more, ‘The fathers have eaten sour grapes...’”
Psalm 80:8-9 “You have brought a vine out of Egypt, You have cast out the nations and planted it. You prepared room for it, and caused it to take deep root and it filled the land.”
This vine, Israel, is described as “the choicest vine.” But it is a vine that also has within it a “winepress.” (Isaiah 5:1-2) The “winepress” speaks of the crushing tribulation to come!
God planted Israel as a “noble vine” of the highest quality, yet it became an alien, degenerate vine. This speaks of Israel's rebellion to Messiah. (Jeremiah 2:21)
As with the olive and the fig tree, the vine will bear its good fruit in its time, which is just around the corner!
►Other trees symbolic of Israel:
Joel 1:12 (Context: Israel is invaded in the tribulation period) “The vine has dried up and the fig tree has withered; and the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree. All the trees of the field have withered. Surely joy has withered away from the sons of men.
But we know that Israel's story does not end in the tribulation. Joy will return.
The Cedar: Symbol of power, royalty and majesty. The Oak: Symbol of strength and stability. The Palm: Symbol of military victory and victory in Messiah. The Pomegranate: Symbol of abundance and joyfulness. The Acacia: Symbol of beauty. The Myrtle: Symbol of God’s favour and blessing.
The grand summary:
Israel is: Deeply rooted in God with an eternal future. Israel contains the light-producing oil of the Spirit of God and soon will be Messiah’s light of the world! Israel will be at peace soon. The church is a “wild” family member of Israel through our joint root in God. Israel will become fully fruitful after pruning. Israel’s ripening fruit is a sign of Messiah’s coming. Israel will bud and come to life supernaturally in a day and then bring the light of salvation to the Gentile world. Israel will go through the winepress of tribulation, be attacked from the north and fall under calamity, because she was the choicest, noble vine and yet gave herself to paganism. (Baal) Finally Israel will fulfil God’s call and plan in power, majesty and strength, abundance, and blessing.
All of this is revealed in the nature of this forest of trees, and the corresponding Bible verses. How can you not be a tree-hugger!

Analysing the rapture (Part 2)
These are words of life!
At the rapture, it’s a done deal, signed sealed and delivered! There is no going back. Every thought you have thought, word spoken and deed done is written in God’s great book of life. The cross of salvation will never required again, because you will have been saved by it, once and forever. But your eternal reward will now be decided.
Psalm 37:18 “The Lord knows the days of the upright and their inheritance shall be forever.”
2 Corinthians 4:17 “Our light affliction is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.”
Do you know that glory has weight? The word used for “weight” above means a very heavy weight!
This is all symbolic, but don’t underestimate the powerful truth in it all as well. Note the two very real words – “forever” and “eternal”. It’s not a good idea to waste your life on stupid stuff and things that will amount to nothing – forever. That means a “nothing” reward forever!
The unbeliever, who has done extremely well in life and made it a great success, will go to hell. The believer, who gave a glass of cold water in His name, will receive an eternal reward, lasting forever!
The reward state is set, and delivered immediately after the rapture of the church.
Now let’s delve into some rapture secrets and living eschatology.
Just bear in mind, in terms of all end-time doctrine, to get your ducks neatly all lined up in a row, you need to get rid of all Catholic-based doctrine, as well as Calvinism.
Pre-tribulation rapture (Pre-trib), Mid-trib, or Post-trib?
These are the three main views for the timing of the rapture.
The Pre and mid-tribulation views both have compelling evidences, but only one can be right.
The Post-tribulation view is riddled with numerous inconsistencies and problems with other scriptures. It is also closely associated with Replacement theology. Obviously, I reject it.
A very logical position:
2 Thessalonians 2:3-7 “Concerning our Lord Yeshua and our gathering together to Him, we ask you not to be soon shaken by a letter as if from us that the day of Messiah had come. Let no one deceive you by any means, for that day will not come unless the falling away (Lit=apostasy) has come first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition...and now you know what is restraining him that he may be revealed in his own time...He who restrains will do so until He has been taken out of the way and then the lawless one will be revealed.”
The general view is that the word “apostasy” in this verse above, simply means the “falling away from the faith.” But hang on a minute let’s dig a bit deeper.
There is no doubt that there is a general falling away from the faith in these days, amongst certain churches, especially the Spirit-less churches. That view though, would be better served by numerous other verses, like the “The lukewarm church being spat out.”
In the year 1611 the Catholic Church came up with the translation of the original word as “falling away.” Before this the word “departure,” was used. The presumption behind this change was that it was speaking of a falling away from the faith.
Most importantly, the words “from the faith” are not in the original at all and not in the Bible now either. So if the term “falling away from the faith”, is not in the Bible, what is being spoken of here?
A falling away from the faith would never ever occur in a “moment in a twinkling of an eye,” would it? It would occur over a much longer period of time. So, why then is falling away from the faith used here in association with the release of the antichrist and the rapture?
The correct translation of the original word “apostasy” should be “departure.”
If it is “departure” it changes things rather dramatically. The departure could mean “rapture”.
The original word, apostasy, is a combination of two words: “Apo” and “Stasis”. ‘Apo’ means to “move away from” and ‘Stasis’ means “standing or state.”
But when it has the definite article in front of it, as it does here, it adds extra insight. The definite article means “the departure” and not a general departure. In other words “the” departure is a reference to a particular event in a short space of time.
This would be like a crowd of people getting on a train. The departure takes place and they’re gone. You can’t use the definite article for a more general departure or falling away of the church from the faith. The train leaves at a particular point in time, not over a general time period.
The original words used here, are also used as a verb, meaning that the departure is referring to a spatial issue... in time and space. It would be not be appropriate for a general falling away from faith.
Also bear in mind that the church has already had its great falling away from the faith, thanks to Catholic - created dark ages!
Now, on top of all of this, we must keep things in context. What is the context of this “departure”?
The context of the departure is found in the same portion of scripture. It is “our being gathered to Him” (1 Thessalonians 4:1) It is not a falling away from the faith.
Don’t put undue emphasis on one interpretation or application alone. It does have weight when combined with other interpretations, but not on its own.
More pure logic:
Revelation 5:9-11 “They sang a new song saying: You are worthy to take the scroll. And to open its seals; for you were slain, and have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, and have made us kings and priests to our God; and we shall reign on the earth. Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand and thousands of thousands.”
Now we are going to see something astounding as we apply logic to these verses above.
Here we have a company of masses of people “redeemed out of every tribe, tongue and nation”. These are not angels as some maintain. Angels are not redeemed out of all the nations! Yes there is an angelic company here also, and there is a company of “heavenly creatures.” And we also have the 24 elders here in this company as well.
It is only human beings that are “redeemed by the blood of the Lamb”. Heavenly creatures and angels are not. So, this proves conclusively that these are human believers. The elders that are seen here are also always identified with the Church and not angels.
So, this massive congregation in heaven includes living creatures, angels, elders and redeemed believers. Here is the crunch:
This takes place before the opening of the seals and immediately after the messages to the seven churches. (Revelation 1-3) These redeemed believers in heaven are saying to the Lamb that He is worthy to open the seals. The opening of the seals starts the tribulation!
Do you see that?
At this point in time the tribulation period is just about to start on the earth.
So what are these elders and multitudes of people doing in heaven just as the tribulation starts on earth?
The only way they could be there is by rapture!
Revelation chapters 1-3 contain 16 references to the church. All of these are in association with the seven messages to the churches, describing the church age. Then suddenly in Revelation 4:1, after John’s own rapture to heaven there are no references to the church on earth again.
From here on the saints seen on earth are the Jewish believers and Gentiles saved in the tribulation, but they are not part of the company called the church.
This also refutes a mid-tribulation rapture.
And some more logic:
Two very significant statements in the Revelation are worth taking note of:
- In Revelation 2:22 the Church of Thyatira is promised by God that it will be cast into the great tribulation. The description of this church makes it pretty clear that it is referring to the orthodox churches like the Catholics. But the language implies that if these go into the tribulation others won’t.
- In Revelation 3:10 the Church of Philadelphia is promised by God that it will be kept from the tribulation. Again the language implies that if these don’t go into the tribulation, others do. All true believers will not go through the tribulation. Many professing “Christians” will go into the tribulation!
Mid Tribulation rapture:
There are a number of verses used to propagate the mid-trib view, but the most compelling argument in favour of it, is this:
The children of Israel were captive in Egypt under the hand of Pharaoh. God spoke through Moses to him to “Let My people go.” Pharaoh did not, so God sent 10 sets of plagues against the Egyptians, with the Israelis being protected from them.
Then, half way through the plagues, Pharaoh relented, obeyed and let Israeli people go. They therefore escaped the last five of the plagues which were the worst.
These ten plagues again appear in the Revelation, now falling upon the world during the end-time tribulation period. This has reference to the judgements of God running right through the seven year tribulation and not just the last half. Yes, the last are the worst, but don’t think for a moment that the first half will be a picnic, as some teach.
The mid-trib view is that this Egyptian example refers to the rapture at mid tribulation.
That is a very logical and possible view. But for me it doesn’t quite work, because the Egyptian story is speaking of the children of Israel, the Jews and could not be a type of the largely Gentile church.
There are scriptures showing that the two witnesses will be taken in rapture at the mid-trib point. Again, for the reason above, you can’t extend that to the whole church. The two witnesses are Jews.
With all the verses put together, you see that the two witnesses have their ministry with the 144,000 Jewish males, in the first half of the tribulation, not the second. (Revelation 11)
Evangelism is the job of the church. Now in the tribulation, we see that evangelism is done by two Jewish witness and 144,000 Jews! Where is the church? It is gone of course!
What is interesting is that this rapture of the two witnesses implies that they would be joining the rest of the God’s mob already in heaven – that would be us!
A major reason for the failure of the mid-trib view is that it divides Daniel’s seventieth week (of years) in half, meaning that the dispensation of the church age ends half way through the seven year tribulation, messing up dispensational times and seasons.
It just doesn’t fit that well.
Generally, I have no gripe with some of the mid-trib rapture proponents, I just respectfully disagree.
Post tribulation rapture:
The post-tribulation rapture position is a joy killer. It is a hope killer. It is a love killer. It is also scripturally unsound.
Last trumpets and last days:
►Those who equate the rapture trumpet of 1 Corinthians 15:52 with the tribulation Seventh trumpet of Revelation 11:15-18, fail to take into account the fact that Paul could not have been referring to the seventh trumpet in Corinthians, because the book of Revelation had not yet been written. John wrote the Revelation 40 years after Paul wrote to the Corinthians.
Paul must have been referring to the silver trumpets or the trumpet of the Feast of Trumpets.
Numbers 10:1 “Make two trumpets of hammered silver to summon the community. When both are sounded with long blasts, the entire community is to gather...”
We have a “last trump” for the Church age and a “last trump” for the close of the tribulation, which is technically the end of the Old Covenant. 1 Corinthians 15:52 is the last trump of the Church era.
We also hear a trumpet’s voice as John is raptured to heaven to receive the revelation. (Revelation 4:1)We also have trumpet blasts of judgement upon the earth in Revelation 11:15-18 as well as in Revelation 7. And we hear a trumpet of war in Ezekiel 33:1-6.
My point is; you can’t lump all trumpets together. You need to go by context.
Post-tribbers claim that that the rapture will occur on the “last day”. They are right, but very wrong too! Which last day? Just as we can’t lump all the trumpets together, there are different “last days.”
There is a “last day” for the Church age and a “last day” for the tribulation.
And we also see, in the verse below, a “last day” for the unbeliever as well. They are not all the same day, you must go by context.
John 12:48 “He who rejects Me and does not receive My words, has that which judges him – the word that I have spoken will judge him on the last day.”
No empty earth:
There is almost universal agreement that at the second coming, all unbelievers are removed from this earth in judgement. There are numerous passages of scripture indicating this. The sheep and goat judgement is one of them. Here the goats are removed and the sheep (those saved in the tribulation, go into the Millennium. (Matthew 25:31-34.)
There has to be a clear distinction and separation between tribulation saints who go into the Millennium to re-populate the earth and saints in resurrected, glorified bodies.
The Bible speaks in a number of places of unbelievers being destroyed at the Second Coming. (Revelation 19:15-18)
So now, if unbelievers are cast away at the Second Coming as the post tribulation rapture occurs, it would leave an empty earth with no one going through to the Millennium to repopulate the earth!
Resurrected, raptured saints do not procreate.
God has two chosen peoples:
God has chosen the Jews for His purposes and plans. He has also chosen the church for His plans. The two are not the same, as the post tribbers claim.
The post tribulation rapture view claims that God has only one people – the church, who will go through the tribulation and be raptured at that Second Coming.
Bible prophecy is almost totally centred around Israel’s regathering to her land and soon coming spiritual birth as she recognises her Messiah.
As with all biblical error, it knocks on to other doctrines and at the end of the day does affect even your lifestyle!
You may have noticed that churches who believe this post-trib view have either no understanding on the place of Israel in prophecy. Due to the spirit of error at work in them, they come against Israel and rather support the Islamic / Palestinian claims to the land of Israel.
But be not mistaken, there is a post tribulation rapture, which you don’t want to be in, unless you are stark, staring, raving mad! It is the rapture of unbelievers – to hell. (Revelation 19:15-18.)
Amongst many other problems, the post tribbers: ●Deny the existence of dispensations. ●They deny any distinction between Israel and the church. ●They support replacement theology. ●They claim the pre-trib view is a modern doctrine. ●They say that the pre-trib view is escapism. (Of course it is!)
There are a million biblical reasons why this post-trib view fails miserably. Their fruit is rotten!
Where is it all going?
Ezekiel 5:5 “Thus says the Lord God: This is Jerusalem; I have set her in the midst of the nations and the countries around her.”
When Israel is at peace, the world will be at peace. When Messiah comes Jerusalem will be at peace. The world is headed for total destruction and a new world is on the horizon of magnificence and never-ending peace.
God’s two people, the church and Israel will finally be one, forever with our great King, Lord and Saviour in our midst. The King and His kingdom will be a universal force of His favour and glory.
Don’t mess with the church or Israel now in their embryonic form! The pressure is on!
Churches of replacement theology – get your rotten hands off Israel. If you don’t, you will eternally regret it.
The rapture and the surrounding events brings to those left behind, doom and gloom, darkness, devastation, terror, sadness, shock, horror, regret and an ocean of tears.
The rapture brings with it eternal peace, great reward, and the final incorruptible, completion of God’s plans and call for all true believers.
The teaching of the rapture brings with it the promised great escape from the wrath of man, Satan, nature and God. It is the promised great comfort and the great eternal victory of the true Church of our Messiah.
The teaching of the rapture brings and attracts the inspired, the inspirer, the visionary, the thinker, the idealist, the artist and those filled to the brim with wonderful hope. Above all it attracts the genuine truth-seeker with the living God in his heart.
The teaching of the rapture brings a loss of love for the fallen world, a new love for heaven, holiness and all the glory of God.
The rapture brings home one enormous spectacular truth and that is – God is a judge. His word is true and real!
Flower power alright! I combined the daisy picture which I took in Namaqualand, with a hefty Botswana sunset elephant.
Shalom and grow in His Grace!
