Shabbat (Sabbath) begins on Fridays at 6pm and ends on Saturdays at 6pm. The purpose is to help the church and Israel become reconciled in Messiah and to identify the rift, and the needed restoration. There is much in the church that needs to change before it can be fully reconciled with the Jew. Likewise, changes in Jewish thinking are also needed.

Shabbat Shalom to all!
The tree-huggers delight:
The Bible uses plants, trees, colours, animals, birds, numbers and more to describe people and nations. It is the subliminal symbols that are of great significance and meaning, especially in relation to Israel.
Did you realise that the entire course of Israel’s history is plotted in the trees? There is much more to these symbols and metaphors - for another time.
Here are some amazing messages blowing in the wind, relating to Israel.
►The Olive tree: (Romans 11)
These trees have very deep, well established roots. They are sometimes called eternal trees, because they are so hardy; they live for many thousands of years. An ancient olive tree appears to die, but then miraculously, new shoots appear out of the dead wood continuing its existence.
The olive tree produces a rich olive oil which has numerous uses, but is also a type of the Holy Spirit. Olive oil is required to keep the temple menorah flames burning. This symbolises light. Olive tree leaves are symbols of peace. Remember the dove bringing back an olive branch to the ark after the flood of judgement.
The root of the olive tree is symbolic of God Himself. The root is called, “holy.”
Biblically, there are two olive trees of importance. The natural olive tree, is symbolic of Israel, and the wild olive tree, is symbolic of the church. The wild olive branch was “grafted” into the natural olive tree, thus partaking of the goodness of the root.
The national emblem of Israel includes two olive branches.
An ancient olive tree grove:
►The Fig tree:
The fig tree is symbolic of spiritual fruitfulness after severe pruning or judgement. It relates to Israel in the tribulation period, awakening to spiritual life.
The fig tree is unique in that its blossoms appear before the leaves. It should have fruit appearing before the leaves. This is why our Lord cursed the unfruitful fig tree, causing it to die. The root was not destroyed though, and a new tree full of fruit, is about to appear.
When the disciples asked out Lord what would be the sign of His coming, He listed a number of judgements to fall on the world. But one of these was the sign of the fig tree.
Matthew 24:32-34 “learn the parable of the fig tree: When is branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that the summer is near. So also you when you see all these things, know that it is near, even at the very doors. Assuredly, I say to you, ‘this generation (of Jews) will be no means pass away till all these things are fulfilled.’”
Present day Zionism and the awakening of the Jews, as well as modern anti-Semitism are signs of the fig tree putting forth leaves and about to produce much spiritual fruit.
►The Almond tree:
The almond is the first tree to flower in its season, which at the end of winter. The flower has five petals to it, five being the number of grace. The temple menorah, a symbol of light, has oil cups or containers in the shape of almond flowers.
The Hebrew word for “almond” is “shakeid” which also means to “awake” and “watch”.
The almond is symbolic of Messiah’s resurrection. It speaks of the supernatural power of God as seen in Aaron’s almond branch that budded in one day. (Numbers 17:8)
Jeremiah 1:11-14 “The word of the Lord came to me saying, ‘Jeremiah, what do you see?’ I said, ‘I see the branch of an almond tree.’ Then the Lord said, ‘you have seen well for I am about to perform My word.’ And the word of the Lord came to me a second time, saying, ‘what do you see? And I said, a boiling pot and it is facing away from the north.’ Then the Lord said to me: ‘Out of the north calamity shall break forth on all the inhabitants of the land.’”
The message here is that as the almond (Israel) flowers and buds she will be plunged into the tribulation period.
Jeremiah 31:28 “It shall come to pass that as I have watched over them to pluck up, to break down, to throw down, to destroy and to afflict them, so I will watch over them to build and plant says the Lord. In those days they shall say no more, ‘The fathers have eaten sour grapes...’”
Psalm 80:8-9 “You have brought a vine out of Egypt, You have cast out the nations and planted it. You prepared room for it, and caused it to take deep root and it filled the land.”
This vine, Israel, is described as “the choicest vine.” But it is a vine that also has within it a “winepress.” (Isaiah 5:1-2) The “winepress” speaks of the crushing tribulation to come!
God planted Israel as a “noble vine” of the highest quality, yet it became an alien, degenerate vine. This speaks of Israel's rebellion to Messiah. (Jeremiah 2:21)
As with the olive and the fig tree, the vine will bear its good fruit in its time, which is just around the corner!
►Other trees symbolic of Israel:
Joel 1:12 (Context: Israel is invaded in the tribulation period) “The vine has dried up and the fig tree has withered; and the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree. All the trees of the field have withered. Surely joy has withered away from the sons of men.
But we know that Israel's story does not end in the tribulation. Joy will return.
The Cedar: Symbol of power, royalty and majesty. The Oak: Symbol of strength and stability. The Palm: Symbol of military victory and victory in Messiah. The Pomegranate: Symbol of abundance and joyfulness. The Acacia: Symbol of beauty. The Myrtle: Symbol of God’s favour and blessing.
The grand summary:
Israel is: Deeply rooted in God with an eternal future. Israel contains the light-producing oil of the Spirit of God and soon will be Messiah’s light of the world! Israel will be at peace soon. The church is a “wild” family member of Israel through our joint root in God. Israel will become fully fruitful after pruning. Israel’s ripening fruit is a sign of Messiah’s coming. Israel will bud and come to life supernaturally in a day and then bring the light of salvation to the Gentile world. Israel will go through the winepress of tribulation, be attacked from the north and fall under calamity, because she was the choicest, noble vine and yet gave herself to paganism. (Baal) Finally Israel will fulfil God’s call and plan in power, majesty and strength, abundance, and blessing.
All of this is revealed in the nature of this forest of trees, and the corresponding Bible verses. How can you not be a tree-hugger!
Edition 235. November 26thth 2014
What is a Christian?
What is a Christian?
The truths contained in this edition are profound. Please don’t just gloss over it all. This could affect your eternal destination and the quality of it. If you’re doing just fine, that’s good news, but you can also be a powerful influence in the lives of others.
Today far too many so-called Christians live in a deluded world of presumption and deception. Our measure is always the Bible itself and not the opinions of man and the masses.
If you know your Bible you will know that few are saved at the end of the day and few amongst those who are saved will be fully rewarded.
What constitutes a Christian?
A true biblical Christian is one who has been born-again of the Spirit of God by wilful choice at a point in time (like a natural birth).
It is a supernatural event in which a new creation is formed. Something supernatural occurs in your heart and identifies you with our supernatural God. The counterfeit is the one who believes in God but has the supernatural new-creation missing. Christian religion is the way of the counterfeit, while new-birth relationship is the way of the true Christian.
A true Christian then needs to go successively through the convocations of adult water baptism, rejecting infant sprinkling at the same time, (which is an occult practice), baptism in the Spirit is required, and ongoing study of the scriptures is required.
These are the first steps and principles of growth on our journey to maturity after conversion. Unfortunately today, there is little emphasis on the desperate need of Bible study.
People will never enter the kingdom of God through enthusiasm, excitement, or any emotion no matter how sincere. Entrance can be gained only by the supernatural new-birth – nothing less.
The way of salvation cannot be in human reform, because that does not bring to life the divine spirit in us. Death is irreparable, and can’t be made alive. This is where many fall short. They think that because they do the things their church does and don’t do other things, they’re saved. Wrong!
The unsaved are essentially the walking dead and no amount of change, reform, labour, law-keeping, effort, good works, holy conduct or any such thing makes that death alive to God.
A true Christian is one who has been formed by God for God. The true Christian is one who is full of life – the life of God and its fruits. Sin only drops off as the power and energy of the cross by God’s Spirit works in the individual’s heart.
The true Christian is one with an internal element of joy even in unhappy circumstances. He has an element of freedom, peace and liberty about him. He has an element of the mysterious about him. He is hated and loved.
●He fights a war which has already been won!
●He has died yet is more alive than ever.
●He lives here on earth but is not at home here.
●He is full of the wisdom of God and is a fool in the world’s eyes.
●He takes up a cross because he is unworthy, yet he is of infinite, immense value to God.
● He is empowered by the cross to die to self, the world and the demonic, but spiritually he is already seated in heavenly places.
●He hates his life in the world yet is full of the abundant life of God.
●He sees himself decreasing and as wretched, yet is more than a conqueror.
●He sees that One far greater than the one in the world is resident in his heart.
●The true Christian knows that he is saved and yet his salvation will be complete at the resurrection of the body. He is saved, yet works on the ongoing salvation of his soul.
●He is not bound by legalism or licence, but lives in liberty.
●He has a supreme love for our Lord yet walks in fear of Him.
Philippians 2:12 “...Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.”
Above all the true Christian will be known by his fruits.
The pathway of truth!
Much of Bible prophecy relates to your personal destiny and your eternal state. It’s well worth knowing these things well.
I want to lay out these basics, so that there is no ambiguity or doubt in your mind.
Because we are in a spiritual environment ruled by spirits with constant warfare, we must realise that the true will always be hated by the false. The good will always be challenged by the evil, the right by the wrong and so on.
You must know that as we move on with our Lord of glory there are attackers out there trying to bring us down. Many of them are right in the church. In fact some of your greatest enemies may be behind the pulpit!
Consider these shocking truths:
Acts 20:29 “For I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock.”
Deuteronomy 13:13 “Certain corrupt men have gone out from among you and enticed the inhabitants of the city saying, let us go and serve other gods, gods whom you have not known.”
1John 2:18 “Little children it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know it’s the last hour. They went out from us, but were not of us, for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us...”
Revelation 18:24 “In her (Babylonian church) was found the blood of the prophets and saints and all who were slain on the earth.”
Galatians 1:9 “If anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.”
Note that in these verses above, severe warnings are issued against deception arising from within the church. We will always be attacked by outsiders, but we often have our defences down relating to insiders!
Persecution from outside is nothing to be worried about – it will always be there. But attacks on the truth from within are a much greater danger.
Now have a look at this shocking verse:
Isaiah 30:10-14 (Amp) “They say to the seers ‘See not; and to the prophets, prophecy not what is right; speak to us smooth things, prophecy deceitful illusions. Get out of the true way, turn aside out of the path, cease holding up before us the Holy One of Israel. Therefore thus says the Holy One of Israel , because you despise and spurn My word and trust in cunning and oppression (of the righteous), in crookedness and perverseness, and rely on them; Therefore this guilt shall be to you as a broken high wall ready to fall, whose crash will come suddenly and swiftly, in an instant.”
The enticement to serve and worship other gods is all around us today. Many things quite harmless have been turned into idols and many things deadly in nature have been accepted and elevated.
Our natural life (soul) and it’s attachment to the world is a formidable obstacle to our spiritual lives and most are not even aware of it!
Actually, only God can satisfy a Christian's heart; man and his laws and traditions cannot. The world and its idols can’t. If you are supernaturally born of a supernatural God you will be satisfied in Him and with His word only.
God’s ways of working in us:
God's means of delivering us from sin and self is not by making us stronger and stronger, but by making us weaker and weaker. I love the words of John the baptist – “I must decrease so that He will increase.” It is only as self is delivered to death that new life arises.
I know a woman who is a real Jezebel. She is dominated by self-will – to the extreme. Finally, after being rejected she ‘broke down’ and booked into a healing spa where she was pampered and encouraged. Wrong! That only strengthened her problem which is self- glorification. What she needs is to die. To take up her cross and deny self.
There is nothing more tragic than to come to the end of one’s life and discover that you’ve been on the wrong course all along.
Soulish Christians generally lean towards emotion, reason or intellect and want self to be glorified, accepted and allowed to rule.
Unless self-love is abandoned, the believer will always turn away when called to take up his cross!
God’s way of deliverance is altogether different from man’s way. Man’s way is to try to suppress sin by seeking to overcome it and to elevate self. God’s way is to eliminate you the sinner!
Revelation is the first step to holiness, and consecration is the second. A day must come in our lives, as definite as the day of our conversion, when we give up all rights to ourselves and submit to the absolute Lordship of our Messiah.
As you grow in the Lord, you must become a traitor to Rome, Babylon, the Reformers, the world system, Hollywood, celebrity-obsession and perverse entertainment.
God wants a great big family and He chose you to be part of it. That is why you were born in the first place. His new universe is going to be a lot more spectacular than any of us can imagine. There will be no sin, no cruelty to animals. A wonderful new universe awaits. We will have homes designed and built by our Lord. In fact His team has been at work on our homes for the last 2000 years!
Your heart and doctrine:
We must know and understand that the heart of man is the problem. This is where impenetrable pride dwells. By nature the heart of man is connected to Adam and sin. In fact the heart of man is alive to Satan until our Lord moves in. This is why it’s so important to have a soft, broken, contrite heart before our Lord.
Have a look at these verses and note how important the issue is.
Jeremiah 17:9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?”
John 3:19 “This is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.”
James 3:17 “The wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and hypocrisy.” (Verse 15 – The wisdom from below is demonic.)
Proverbs 3:32 “The perverse person is an abomination to the Lord, but His secret counsel is with the upright.”
Only once our hearts have been well prepared does the ‘seed’ of God’s word take root and begin to revolutionise our lives. Truth in a well prepared heart will make you a child of the living God, full of life, love, hatred, glory, wonder and beautiful depth of character.
God’s living truth will lead you from within into a whole new world! Even your Christianity will be radically different from the Babylon-formed religion all around us. You will develop a love for doing things His way.
It’s easy to get it all wrong though – follow the world and follow the doctrines, traditions and opinions of man and many ministers.
Why do so many Christians love the devil?
The devil operates in the Christian’s life through the self-life, the world system and the demonic. If you don’t know that and how to identify each area and attack, you are wide open to the devil!
Many, in fact most Christians, are in love with the world. If that is the case, you have to be in love with the spirit behind the world which is Satan. You can’t separate the two! Most Christians are not aware of the self-life as an enemy and again are wide open to the devil as they continue to live for self.
Today we are in a world that has moved far, far away from God and His ways. It’s in your face everywhere and is filled with the demonic. The pressure to conform to the world is everywhere - even in the church.
What is wrong has become what is right. Evil, darkness and sin have all become the acceptable way to go and people love to have it so!
So many Christians love the devil because they can’t see him. Neither can they see his workings like a parasite in their lives.
The “I think” brigade:
●I think I’m okay. ●I think I’m saved because God would never send such a special person like me to hell. ●I think homosexuals have the right to marriage. ●I think abortion is a woman’s rights. ●I think other religions have a legitimate right to God. ●I think Islam is a religion of peace. ●I think its fine to sit under the satanic god - Hollywood, entertainment, and worship celebrity. ●I think the Palestinians have a right to a state within the land of Israel. ●I think Israel is the occupying force.
Hey Mr. “I think;” you are a deceived servant of the god of this world. He is your god and you are going to hell to join up with your god!
The tragedy of the “I think” crowd above is that they are in the church, just like the abomination of desolation to come. They are fuelled by the opinions of the god of this world while the opinions of the true God of the universe lie in a closed book on their shelf.
What a powerful story!
Do you think you’re okay in God’s sight? Here’s a little Old Covenant story, that you’re aware of, but do you know its real message and the severity of it? Here’s is the story in a nutshell:
God led His people out of Egypt at the hand of Moses. This is a type of our being led out of the world after salvation. Then because of their rebellion and sin, God led the children of Israel in circles for 40 years. The typology is that we can be saved, but remain in bondage to the world, not even getting to the promised land of victory.
Have a look at these shocking verses and apply them to the here and now:
Deuteronomy 8:2-3 “Remember the Lord your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you to know what was in your heart...” Verse 16 “He fed you in the wilderness, to humble you and test you to do you good in the end.”
Psalm 106:14-15 “But they lusted exceedingly in the wilderness and tested God in the desert. So He gave them their request, but sent leanness into their soul.” Verses 35, 40 “But they mingled with the Gentiles and learned their works; they served their idols, which became a snare to them...therefore the wrath of the Lord was kindled against His people, so that He abhorred His own inheritance.”
Do you see the great tragedy of the modern church here?
The true Christian will allow God to test him instead of testing God! Do you know how many Christians love the idols of the world and are “lean in their hearts”?
Today the church is in mortal danger. It is “lean in its heart.” Much of it will not get to the Promised Land.
My question to you is this. Do you want to be a normal “lean”, spineless, compromised, half-baked shallow, empty demonised Christian? Or do you want to be one of those written in God’s “Book of Remembrance”? (You might want to look that up and study it.)
1 Corinthians 15:19 “If in this life only we have hope in Messiah, we are of all men most miserable.”
1John 5:4 “For whoever is born of God overcomes the world and this is the victory that has overcome the world - our faith.”
The two verses above show the situation of the compromised Christian attached to the world and the result of the true Christian working on his salvation and being delivered from the world in the process.
The reason the true believer will always be hated is because he can’t and won’t assimilate into the world. Isn’t this exactly the same as Israel?
Please don’t think good people go to heaven and bad people go to hell. You are ignorant of your Bible if you do. Good and bad people go to hell and saved, born-again people who have gone through the cross, go to heaven.
You don’t believe me – just read the Great White Throne Judgement and you will see all the people being judged to hell based on their ‘good’ works.
1 Corinthians 1:18 “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved, it is the power of God.”
Matthew 21:44 “Whomever falls on this stone (Yeshua) will be broken; but on whom it falls will be ground to powder.”
Philippians 3:10 “That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death.”
I took this picture deep in the Tsitsikamma Forest of this little known but beautiful waterfall called Magwa.
Shalom and grow in grace!
